| Perinatal Outreach Education has a long standing history, predating the development of the council, as the provider of professional perinatal education in the Blue Ridge Perinatal Region. The Perinatal Outreach Education Program offers a wide range of educational opportunities for physicians, nurses, social workers, nutritionists, emergency medical services personnel, and other providers of perinatal care in the region.

Neonatal Transport Education Program AWHONN Fetal Heart Monitoring Principles and Practice Basic Electronic Fetal Monitoring Advanced Electronic Fetal Monitoring Maternal/newborn transport reviews All hospitals in the region have Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) instructors to certify and recertify their own staff. Perinatal Outreach Education facilitates the use of the Carilion Health Systems NRP and Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) Courses. A variety of staff members from the Perinatal Center and the Prenatal Diagnostic Center at Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital serve as speakers for programs. Through major regional conferences, participants have the opportunity to hear professionals and nationally recognized experts in maternal and child health. |
